How old is Moorestown?

Property owners were here by 1680, and the village was founded in 1682. Quakers built a log Friends Meeting House on King’s Highway in 1700, and Thomas Moore, who settled in 1722, lent his name to the town center as his holdings grew, replacing the older name of Chester Township. The township was incorporated by an act of the state legislature approved March 11, 1922. The Cowperthwaite Homestead at King’s Highway and Lenola Road, built in 1742, was documented by the Department of the Interior in 1937 and is recorded in the Library of Congress.

Who arranges meals and rides for Moorestown seniors?

The Burlington County Office on Aging, the county’s Aging and Disability Resource Center at 795 Woodlane Road in Westampton (609-265-5069; 877-222-3737), arranges Meals on Wheels, weekend meals, congregate nutrition sites, transportation, home health services and adult day care for residents over 60. Sen-Han Transit (1-877-603-5111) carries Burlington County residents 60 and over or with a disability.

What does Moorestown offer on Main Street and at the library?

The Moorestown Library shares the Town Hall address, 111 West 2nd Street (856-234-0333). It opens at 9:30 a.m. every day and stays open until 9 p.m. Monday through Thursday and until 5 p.m. Friday through Sunday. Main Street carries banks, restaurants, houses of worship, historic homes and the renovated Moorestown Community House, and hosts parades and arts events through the year.

Parks and Recreation looks after nearly 667 acres of open space, including preserved land with hiking trails and the Swede Run Fields dog park; its fitness center runs group exercise classes, and pickleball sessions welcome any age or fitness level.

Which preserves and landmarks can you visit in Moorestown?

The township lists thirteen preserved open spaces, many with hiking trails: the Barbara Rich Preserve at Little Woods, Boundary Creek (a Burlington County park), the Esther Yanai Preserve, Kay Smith’s Waterworks Woods, Kendles Run Acres, Locust Street Park, Pompeston Park, South Valley Woods, Stokes Hill, the Susan Stevens Halbe Preserve, Swede Run Fields, Wigmore Acres and Winner Fields. Save The Environment of Moorestown, working since 1972 with land trusts and watershed associations, has helped preserve more than 275 acres of them.

Several landmarks stand along Main Street. John Cox built the Town Tavern on Main Street in 1745, and town meetings were held there until Old Town Hall went up in 1812. Coles Hotel, east of Main and Chester, was a stagecoach stop on the Philadelphia road until the railroad arrived in 1867, and Hessian officers took over the Joshua Bispham Home at Main and Schooley Streets during the 1778 retreat from Philadelphia. The township is now weighing a historic district for commercial properties along Main Street and Chester Avenue.

Moorestown borders Cinnaminson and Delran to the west, Willingboro to the north, Mount Laurel to the east and Maple Shade to the south, and is governed by a five member council with a township manager.

Plans ending or merging in Burlington County for 2027

The CMS crosswalk, the file that maps each 2026 plan to its 2027 successor, shows 10 Burlington County plans ending without moving members anywhere, from Braven Health, Wellcare, Jefferson Health Plans and AmeriHealth. 9 are terminated or not renewed outright; 1 is a renewal with a service area reduction, meaning the plan continues somewhere but no longer covers this county.

One more plan folds into a successor automatically, so members of that plan need do nothing to stay covered. Everyone else in an ending plan picks a new one during the Annual Enrollment Period, or within the Special Enrollment Period that follows a non-renewal.

Of the 11 plans below, 10 plans end with no similar plan in the county, 0 plans end but the same company offers a plan with the same or a similar name under a new plan ID, and 1 plan folds into another plan automatically.

How the figures are derived

Headline counts and averages leave out Special Needs Plans. "$0 Part C premium" and "$0 combined monthly premium for Parts C and D" are counted separately; out-of-pocket limits are in-network. The 2026 to 2027 comparison counts plans with drug coverage, Special Needs Plans included. Where the crosswalk ends a plan but the same company files a similar plan under a new ID, we say so. We never estimate per-plan enrollment.
