Accessibility statement

What we built in, what we know is outstanding, and how to tell us when something does not work for you.

Last reviewed: October 20, 2026

Our commitment

Most of the people this site is written for are approaching or past 65. Many use screen readers, screen magnification, keyboard-only navigation, or simply larger text. Building this site to be usable by all of them was a requirement, not an afterthought.

We aim to meet WCAG 2.2 Level AA. This statement describes what that means in practice here, and what we know is not yet done.

What is built in

  • Every color combination used for text was checked against WCAG contrast ratios before it shipped: body text is at least 7:1 and text on the dark sections is at least 9:1
  • The whole site is operable by keyboard alone, including the mega menu, the mobile drawer, the quote funnel and the cookie dialog
  • Focus is always visible, never removed, and it moves sensibly: the mobile menu traps focus while open and returns it when closed
  • A skip link jumps straight to the main content
  • Every image has alternative text, and decorative images are hidden from assistive technology
  • Form fields have real labels, errors are announced, and an error summary appears at the top of the form
  • Headings run in order, and landmarks (header, nav, main, footer) are marked up properly
  • Text reflows without horizontal scrolling down to 320px, and scales to 200% without loss of content
  • The animated artwork honours `prefers-reduced-motion`: it renders one static frame and stops, and every reveal animation is disabled
  • All content is visible without JavaScript; animation is purely additive
  • Tables have proper headers and captions, and wide tables scroll within their own container

How we test, and when we last checked

This statement was last reviewed on October 14, 2026. We review it whenever the site changes significantly, and at least once a year.

Each review combines automated and hands-on checks:

  • Automated audits with Lighthouse and the axe accessibility engine on the main page types: the home page, service pages, Medicare guides, answer pages, blog posts, calculators, the quote funnel and the contact form
  • Keyboard-only spot checks: tabbing through menus, forms, calculators and dialogs to confirm every control can be reached and used, and that focus stays visible
  • Screen-reader spot checks of headings, landmarks, form labels, error messages and the live results the calculators announce
  • Manual checks of color contrast, text resizing to 200% and reflow at narrow screen widths

Known limitations

We would rather list these than pretend they do not exist:

  • Some third-party services we link to (carrier enrollment platforms, Medicare.gov) are outside our control and may not meet the same standard. If one of them creates a barrier, call us and we will complete the task with you by phone.
  • Official forms we link to, such as CMS and Social Security PDFs, are published by those agencies and may not be fully tagged for screen readers. We can go through any of them with you by phone or in person.
  • Automated tools cannot catch every barrier, and spot checks do not cover every combination of browser and assistive technology. That is why your reports matter.

If something does not work

Tell us and we will fix it. In the meantime we will get you the information another way. There is no scenario where a website problem should stop you getting help with your insurance.

Call or text (856) 727-4221, or send a message through the contact page. It helps if you can tell us the page, what you were trying to do, and what assistive technology you use, but tell us anyway even if you cannot.

How quickly we respond

  • We will reply to a reported accessibility barrier within two business days, by phone or by whichever way you contacted us.
  • If the barrier stops you getting information you need now, we will help you by phone or in person straight away rather than wait for the fix.
  • We will tell you what we plan to change and roughly when, and let you know once it is fixed if you would like us to.

FAQ

Common questions

Is Garden State Medicare Solutions connected to Medicare or the government?

No. Garden State Medicare Solutions is a private, independent insurance agency in New Jersey. It is not connected with or endorsed by the United States government, the federal Medicare program or any state agency.

For information on every Medicare plan in your area, use Medicare.gov or call 1-800-MEDICARE.

How do I verify an insurance agent's license in New Jersey?

Use the New Jersey Department of Banking and Insurance Licensee Search at www-dobi.nj.gov/DOBI_LicSearch and choose Insurance. Search by the agent's name to see whether the license is active.

You can also ask us for Jackie Layser's national producer number and look it up yourself.

How is my information used?

Only to help you with insurance. Details you send through the contact form go to our agency so a licensed agent can reply. The calculators run in your browser and send nothing, and the plan finder sends only your ZIP code and answers, never your name. We do not sell your information or pass it to lead companies.

The Privacy and cookie policy explains what is collected, which cookies are used and how to change your choices.

Does it cost anything to use this site or to work with Garden State?

No. The guides and calculators cost nothing to use, and there is no fee for a plan review. Insurance companies pay the agency a commission when you enroll, and your premium is the same whether you use an agent or not.

Do you need a consultation?

Tell Jackie about your current situation. Telephone, Zoom or in person, at no cost to you. Call or text (856) 727-4221.
